Start here – The basics

To get started with WordPress, it’s good to have an understanding of what it is, and how it’s different from other similar options. To launch a WordPress site, you also need a web host (this is where your site will live) and a theme (which will control the presentation of your site). There are hundreds of hosts and themes out there, but after years of experience, I’ve narrowed it down to one theme and two hosts that I feel are the best out there. In this section, I’ve also included a glossary in case you have questions about the WordPress or web hosting jargon.
